The 15th Annual Great Cancer Shootout is fast approaching and will be held on Saturday, July 28th. Last year we completely shattered any previous year’s number of shooter entries with 1,135 total entries- over 200 more than ever before! This was thanks to the addition of a third sporting clays course across the street from the Clubhouse which helped cut down on wait times to shoot and general traffic on each course. Total funds raised in 2017 was $42,107.88 which brings the GRAND TOTAL to $511,297,66 to date for Cancer Research & Support. We have passed the half-million dollar mark!

If you would like to contribute merchandise, gift certificates or other items, please try to get them to us soon! If you would like to make a cash contribution, please make checks out directly to the American Cancer Society. In previous years, we have also told donors to make checks out directly to Stillwaters Support Services for a more local organization but they are no longer in operation. So new for this year we would suggest a charity called This Time Tomorrow for another local donation option. If you are interested, visit thistimetomrrow.org to find out more about this non-profit organization. Please remember donations of all kinds make this event possible and we can all be proud of what has been accomplished over these years of continued effort.

Shooters will be allowed to participate in the Great Cancer Shootout on the Wednesday and Thursday prior to the event as in previous years. Plenty of food will be available all day Saturday, including sweet corn grown locally by Rich Johnson and Pop’s Produce. Special thanks also to Jeff Bartolotta, Hatco Corp. and Bob and Bonnie Schafer for their generous support since the beginning of the event, and the scores of donors, vendors and volunteers who help make this event possible.

Since the first Great Cancer Shootout 15 years ago, there have been so many advances in cancer treatments but there is still a long road to go for so many people of all ages. Please, if you have any questions or if would like to volunteer to help, do not hesitate to give us a call; and as always, we look forward to seeing you all! Don’t forget to bring your blankets and lawn chairs for the fireworks at dusk!
